Virginia Tech's Most Interesting Man

 

Since birth, Rubaiyat Kamal has lived in many places across the globe and has studied at many different universities and institutions.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Kamal has experienced life in many different countries.

 

Kamal spent the first 15 and a half years living in both Bangladesh and London, where he attended school until the 10th grade.

 

After finishing the 10th grade Kamal was given the opportunity to move to Gilbert, Arizona as a youth ambassador, finishing high school in the United States.

 

After graduating high school, Kamal decided to act upon a once in a lifetime opportunity by attending a culinary school in Malaysia.

 

This decision was against his parents will, who were wanting him to take over the family business instead.

 

After culinary school Kamal enrolled at London Metropolitan University earning a degree in business administration and entrepreneurship.

 

His parents were happy as they believed that Rubaiyat was on his way to taking over the family business.

 

But Kamal's parents would soon be crushed, as Kamal decided to go back to America to pursue his dreams as an engineer.

 

Kamal's decision is no small one, in his culture rebelling agaisnt your parents is unheard of. He threw away the reigns to the family business, opening himself up to new opportunites.


Kamal wanted to go to an esteemed engineering school and had his aim set on Virginia Tech. In order to acheive in-state tuition, Kamal attended Northern Virginia Community College.
 

Kamal's dreams came true with his acceptance into Virginia Tech's engineering program. He has made the best of his opportunites and is leaving a huge mark

behind at Virginia Tech , as a member of several organizations. Including organizations such as SAA, Beta Theta Pi, and Engineering design teams.

 

But where Kamal really left his mark is the Student Engineers Council, as the last Expo chair. Raising $250,000 achieving the second largest engineer expo across the country.
